Trama

Bob Lee Swagger è un uomo amareggiato, che ha lasciato per sempre il suo lavoro nei Marines,
dopo aver subito un terribile tradimento. Bob, che si è ritirato a vivere in una remota località di montagna,
viene avvicinato dal Colonnello Isaac Johnson, ormai in pensione, il quale gli comunica che il
paese ha un disperato bisogno di lui. Johnson gli rivela infatti che qualcuno sta organizzando
un attentato contro il Presidente degli Stati Uniti e che solo la sua abilità ed
esperienza nel campo della balistica, potrebbero riuscire a sventarlo. Swagger, con riluttanza, accetta,
per un’ultima volta, di servire il suo paese, ma ciò che non sa è che l’intera missione è una montatura,
frutto di una congiura governativa. Quando Swagger si rende conto di essere stato raggirato,
è ormai troppo tardi. Improvvisamente i giornali parlano di lui come il potenziale assassino del Presidente.
